چکیده

We present optical and near-infrared photometry of 45 clusters of galaxies at 0.1 < z < 1.3. Galaxy catalogs in each cluster were defined at the longest wavelenth available, generally the K-band, down to approximately two magnitudes below M∗. We include finding chart images of the band used for catalog definition. The photometry has been used in previously published papers to examine the origin and evolution of galaxies in

EDisCS – the ESO Distant Cluster Survey Sample Definition and Optical Photometry

We present the ESO Distant Cluster Survey (EDisCS) a survey of 20 fields containing distant galaxy clusters with redshifts ranging from 0.4 to almost 1.0. Candidate clusters were chosen from among the brightest objects identified in the Las Campanas Distant Cluster Survey, half with estimated redshift zest ∼ 0.5 and half with zest ∼ 0.8. They were confirmed by identifying red sequences in moder...

Discovery of an Extremely Red Galaxy at Z=0.65 with Dusty Star Formation and Nuclear Activity

In the course of the follow-up multiwavelength study of a deep radio survey we have discovered that the milli-Jansky radio source PDFJ011423 is a low-redshift (z = 0.65) extremely red galaxy (ERG) with K = 15.3, R − K = 5.8 and J − K = 3.1. Optical, infrared and radio photometry, together with optical and near-infrared spectroscopy, reveal a heavily obscured galaxy (A V =5–6, from the observed ...

Pulsating red giant and supergiant stars in the Local Group dwarf galaxy Andromeda I

We have conducted an optical long-term monitoring survey of the majority of dwarf galaxies in the Local Group, with the Isaac Newton Telescope (INT), to identify the long period variable (LPV) stars. LPV stars vary on timescales of months to years, and reach the largest amplitudes of their brightness variations at optical wavelengths, due to the changing temperature. They trace stellar populati...

We present results from an optical–infrared photometric study of early–type (E+S0) galaxies in 19 galaxy clusters out to z = 0.9. The galaxy sample is selected on the basis of morphologies determined from HST WFPC2 images, and is photometrically defined in the K–band in order to minimize redshift–dependent selection biases. Using new ground–based photometry in five optical and infrared bands fo...
